Forget about birds, Portlandia fans — the new trend is to “put a cat on it.”

An Indiana mom wanted to spice up her daughter Laura’s graduation cake, so she made the seemingly normal request for the bakery to “put a little cap on it.”

Somewhere along the way, the message was misheard, and Laura’s mom picked up this cake with a little cat across her daughter’s forehead. Naturally, the new graduate uploaded a photo to Reddit, where it got the face-palm seal of approval.

“When my mom got to the store and started laughing they tried to wipe off the cat and put on a plastic cap, but she told them to keep it,” writes Laura in response to Reddit users. Read more…
